This companion checklist gives the preparation video a distinct focus: noticing, recording and reporting defects before work. It is a study aid to compare with your training and the relevant handbook.
What to review
Record an observation clearly rather than guessing its cause. Useful notes describe what you noticed, where it appeared and when it was found. Keep an inspection finding separate from a diagnosis or a repair decision.
Review the site’s reporting arrangements and identify who has the competence and authority to decide the next step. If an issue raises uncertainty about safe use, do not treat a short revision checklist as clearance to operate.
Check your understanding
- How would you describe a defect without guessing the diagnosis?
- Who receives the report in the site arrangements?
- Where is the machine’s pre-use inspection procedure documented?
A focused revision exercise
Write a sample defect report in plain language. Check that it records the observation, identifies the machine and follows the agreed reporting route. Discuss uncertainties with a competent trainer.
