CPCS A21 Wheeled Loading Shovel: Reversing and Visibility — Video 4

CPCS A21 Wheeled Loading Shovel: Reversing and Visibility — Video 4

Visibility and reversing deserve their own study session. The useful starting point is to identify what the operator can see and what the site arrangements must address.

What to review

Review pedestrian separation, planned routes and any agreed signalling arrangements. Cameras or mirrors do not turn an unsuitable manoeuvre into a suitable one; study them as parts of the overall system.

When studying, connect the explanation to the equipment and task you know from training. If the example differs from your own machine or site, write down what needs confirming rather than filling the gap from memory. Keep those questions for your next discussion with a competent trainer.

Check your understanding

  • How can the bucket and load affect your view?
  • What should you check about a loading area before starting?
  • Which defects would stop the machine being used?

A focused revision exercise

Draw the visible and uncertain areas around a machine and identify the questions to raise about the route.
