Preparation is the foundation of the excavator revision series. Use the first video to organise what should be checked about the machine, its attachment and the intended working area.
What to review
Build your checklist from current training and the operator’s handbook. Record defects clearly and use the agreed reporting process; inspection is not permission to attempt a repair outside your competence.
When studying, connect the explanation to the equipment and task you know from training. If the example differs from your own machine or site, write down what needs confirming rather than filling the gap from memory. Keep those questions for your next discussion with a competent trainer.
Check your understanding
- What must you know about the ground and working area?
- Which checks apply to the fitted attachment and its connections?
- What would make you stop work and ask for the plan to be reviewed?
A focused revision exercise
Create separate checklist sections for equipment checks, site information and reporting arrangements.
