This introductory A61 guide helps you organise study around planning rather than around memorised test answers. The aim is to explain why information is needed and how the work is controlled.
What to review
Divide your notes into load information, equipment information, the site, the people involved and the agreed method. Under each heading, write what you would need to know before progressing.
Review where the appointed person’s duties connect with the crane supervisor, operator and slinging team. Keep the roles distinct while understanding how the plan must be communicated and followed.
Check your understanding
- What information belongs in the planning stage?
- How are responsibilities made clear to the lifting team?
- When should an existing plan be reviewed?
A focused revision exercise
Use one example from your training to explain how planning decisions affect the rest of the team. Check current A61 support material where your explanation is incomplete.
